Diabetic Ketoacidosis was setting in and we were only a few hours away from another hospitalization. It has always amazed me how fast the body can start shutting down and.....how fast it can recover.

8/21/11 - Out Of Insulin
Kennedy's pump ran out of insulin around 3 or 4 o'clock in the morning. We had a mix up with her perscription yesterday and we had no insulin in the house. We had to wait untl the pharmacy opened at 10 am to pick up the right insulin. In the meantime, Kennedy's blood sugar was so high it would no longer measure on her meter (which means it was over 600). She was very sick and throwing up.
The pharmacy opened and we got the insulin. 2 hours later her blood sugar was 450, and now at 3:10 pm she is 221 - we have entered the safe zone! Hooray! Her primary class was asked to pray for her today so she wouldn't have to miss her first day of school tomorrow. Another one of the Lord's tender mercies.

Oh Holly! I don't know how you handle that. Poor poor girl! No 11 year old should have to deal with those things. I hope her first day of school is fabulous!
You have me crying. That sucks! I'm so glad she's okay. Make's me want to beat someone up!
Wow. I am glad Kenney is ok. Poor kid. Can that stuff be stocked up for storage in emergencies? That's pretty scary to think if there is another hurricane or something there.
